Special Management Zones (SMZs) are government designated land use planning areas where the conservation of natural attributes, such as wildlife habitat, recreation, or community watersheds, are emphasized in resource management decisions. The purpose of this guide is to provide concerned citizens with a source of tools, knowledge and advice to help them maintain the ecological integrity of Special Management Zones
